The present paper aims to investigate points of contact and divergence about the role of the entrepreneurial function for Schumpeter and Lachmann, a German-born Austrian economist, influenced by the post-Keynesian view of expectations. Despite belonging to different generations and economic currents, the paper shows that their points of contact are significant, demonstrating that for both authors entrepreneurial action is founded upon expectations and has a disequilibrating character, which is fundamental for the development of capitalism. Combining both authors’ perspectives allow for a richer and more comprehensive view of this process.
