This field research aimed to delve into the controversy between Science and Religion, in the Brazilian context of the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to the positioning of scientific authorities and religious leaders. After 570 people were heard, the results indicate a disharmony between the pronouncements of some religious leaders opposed to quarantine and the opinion of their own faithful who, in this subject, follow science. This conclusion deconstructs an ideological prejudice of non-religious participants to religious, considered less scientifically enlightened by those. The qualitative analysis of the relations that science and religion assume for the Brazilian population at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic mainly used barbour's quadruple typology: Conflict, Independence, Integration and Dialogue
