ABSTRACT
Colorrectal cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death and its etiology is related to environmental issues, like race, age, alcohol, smoking, diet, inflammatory bowel diseases, apart from genetic factors that have been found in 25% of patients. Some prevalent symptoms are changes in bowel movements, loss of weight, rectal pain and bleeding, palpable tumor in the abdomen, and mucus in the feces. Colon's tumors are curable when detected on time and the surgery is until now the only curable treatment for this kind of cancer. Staging the resected tumor is a key factor in determining how long the patient will live after surgery.
Key-words: colonic neoplasms, colorectal neoplasms, adenocarcinoma, , surgical anastomosis colectomy.
