(Re)thinking the problem of speech genres by means of a relationship between Bakhtin and Vigotsky

Abstract

Based on our doctorate research and on the establishment of a relationship between some of Bakhtin's and Vygotsky's concepts, the aim of this text is to show that 1) the mastery of speech genres by dierent speakers develops itself progressively, by means of a specic language use regulating activity, and that 2) this progressive mastery coincides with the constant elaboration and reelaboration to which the speech genres are subject.
