Abstract
In this study, some Corpus Linguistics procedures, such as concordances and linguistic description based on patterns, are applied to design teaching material for Brazilian students learning Spanish as a foreign language. This study describes the patterns of use of decir/hablar/falar and presents a teaching activity based on the description of these patterns. The choice of research issues was determined by students’ doubts and difficulties and by the lack of information available in course books and grammars about those issues.
