Personal Data in the Digital Economy:
Analysis of the Impact of data Protection in the use of Big Data by GAFA

This article seeks to present some of the impacts of data collection and processing, especially by the acronym GAFA, which is composed of: Google; Apple; Facebook and Amazon. Taking into account that several legal systems have started to implement guidelines aimed at protecting data and privacy of individuals and the use of high- volume data analysis technology, the study seeks to analyze the impacts of legislation on the business models of these companies regarding the use of big data tools. In this sense, these laws for the protection of personal data will modify the governance of the data provided by users of the most profitable companies today, so as not to harm the technological and economic development of companies and society.
