ABSTRACT This study investigates the extent and variations in mobile phone using and text messaging while driving among young university students, including if using a mobile phone altered their driving behavior. It was found that almost 70% used a mobile phone while driving and about 30% of all had written text messages. Phone use while driving is prevalent and can result in adverse consequences, including accidents. Investment to investigate, monitor and minimize damagesis required to reduce consequences.Downloads
