Forms and rhythms of the unpredictable

Abstract

Starting from the fundamental pages of A.J. Greimas’s On Imperfection, this study intends to give continuity to their legacy on the theme of unpredictability. The outcome of this exploration is the formulation of a rhythmic matrix which finds its basic forms in the following figures : fracture, syncope, sostenuto, almost-nothing. To these, the following complex positions are added : leap, deepening, turbulence, vertigo. The elaboration of this matrix and its internal dynamics aim at providing tools for a more precise apprehension of the roots of aesthetics, the forms of creation and creativity, and the conditions and forms of articulation of the most diversified life forms.
