This article presents the work Escritos by Vicente Martínez, a visual essay composed of a set of pages filled with small vertical strokes that form lines, varying in size, inclination, and density. When observing this sequence of images from a semiotic perspective, two key points emerge : first, the question of how much writing there is in Escritos ; and second, the role of the visual rhythm in the apprehension of these images. When approaching this visual essay, we are invited not to intelligibly decipher each stroke, but to sensitively apprehend a rhythm and a cadence
