Intervenções no corpo como marcadores de gênero nofenômeno transexual

Resumo: O reconhecimento legal de um novo gênero quase sempre só é feito mediante a comprovação da realização da cirurgia de redesignação de sexo. O aparato médico-jurídico cria a ilusão de um “transexual oficial”, que necessita de um pênis ou de uma vagina para ascender à masculinidade ou à feminilidade. Pode-se dizer que atualmente a transexualidade é um sintoma que responde às exigências da sociedade. O transexual se dirige a um outro e solicita a modificação de seu corpo, colocando em jogo a necessidade de pertencer a um dos gêneros – masculino ou feminino, levando-se em conta o sexo anatômico. Judith Butler discute, através da noção de gênero como ato performativo, a ilusão de que existam substâncias ou essências de gêneros, personificadas no homem e na mulher. Butler encontra no conceito de pulsão uma das explicações para a subversão de gênero. Ao refletir acerca do fenômeno transexual, a psicanálise possibilita o reconhecimento da singularidade das pessoas transexuais, mas pode igualmente ajudar a pensar a função psíquica das intervenções no corpo como marcadores de gênero individualizadas.

Abstract: The legal recognition of a new gender is almost always done only by providing a sex reassignment surgery. The image of an authentic transsexual is created by the medical-legal apparatus as someone who needs a penis or a vagina to make his/her masculinity or femininity stands out. We can say that transsexuality is a symptom that responds to the demands of the society. Taking into account the anatomical sex, the transsexual may have his/her necessity of belonging to one gender (either male or female) at stake and even so, he/she addresses him/herself to someone else to have his/her body modified. Through the notion of gender as a performative act, Judith Butler discusses why it is an illusion to believe that there are substances or essences of gender personified in both man and woman. Butler finds in the concept of “drive” an explanation for the subversion of gender. Reflecting on the transsexual phenomenon, psychoanalysis allows the recognition of the singular identity of transgendered people, but can also help to think the psychic function of the interventions in the body as individual gender markers.
