FIGURES OF ANTHROPOCENE

Abstract

The term “Anthropocene” was proposed by Paul Crutzen and Eugene Stoermer as the name of the geological epoch which would succeed the Holocene. One of its premisses was that human beings had become a geological force and had a decisive impact on climate change, already in course. The term gained strong repercussion in the past twenty years and started to figure as a concept in most diverse fields of study. This article proposes a short sinotic research on some of these figures, aiming to locate, in every case, the particularities in the concept’s incorporation along the project of each presented author.
