Creation, Kingship, and the Defeat of Evil: A Reflection on Psalm 74

Resumo

Em mitos da criação do Antigo Oriente Próximo, ocorre-se frequentemente uma batalha divina contra o caos cósmico. A criação do mundo e o templo da divindade vitoriosa funcionam como sinais da derrota do mal e do estabelecimento da ordem. Essas idéias ajudam a explicar a justaposição de um lamento sobre a destruição do templo (Salmo 74:1-11, 18-23), que levou a comunidade a experimentar alienação divina, e o hino que proclama a vitória de Yhwh sobre o caos na criação (Salmo 74:12-17). Uma análise retórica do poema demonstra a centralidade do hino da criação no Salmo 74:12-17, indicando que a teologia da criação funciona como uma fonte de esperança para a comunidade em desespero e para um mundo marcado pelo pecado, sofrimento e mal.
