Abstract

The Church not only receivedthe Eucharist as a gift of utmostlove from Jesus, but it also feedsitself from the Eucharist. Its life isilluminated by the Eucharist. Evenmore: it was born form the Eucharist.As Israel became the peopleof God through the old covenantof the Sinai, Jesus, in celebratinga new covenant in the institution ofthe Eucharist, gave origin to a NewPeople. It is in the celebration of theEucharist, according to the teachingsof Saint Paul, that the Church became,in fullness, the Body of Christ,as for Saint Paul, to eat and to drinkare acts of communion (cg 1Cor10).
