Abstract

The thought of the Jewish philosopher Emmanuel Levinas, based on the ethical responsibility toward the other and an opposition to the hegemony of the ontology present in Western thought, has an ethical responsibility for others that leads us directly to the biblical and Talmudic universe. In this article we expose some of the categories of ethics levinasiana for to confront them with Christian thought, investigating in what sense his ethics of alterity can to contribute the discourse of moral theology in the current context.
