Abstract

This paper analyzes and explains the concept of story in Walter Benjamin and, therefore, he spends his itinerary critical and formative as opposed to traditional historical materialism. In this perspective, the text part of an approach about the meaning of Jewish terminology for Benjamin, used by the philosopher trying to think of history, presents, according to Benjamin, the conception of history to materialism, marked by its claim deterministic and domineering, and develops, as opposed to materialism, the concept of history according to Benjamin’s thought, characterized by a genuine return to the past and energized by the spirit that allows to read the movement of all its events.
