PERSPECTIVAS PARA A PASTORAL URBANA

Abstract

This article presents some cluesand reflections about the urban pastoral.It assumes that the knowledgeabout the city is fundamental to apastoral action. The city is a challengenot only for social and urbansciences but also for the mission ofthe Church once 80% of the populationlives in it. In this article we tryto reveal some characteristics of thecity according to human geographyand simultaneously answer to someof its challenges with theology. Itsis important to stress that both areworried about the city especiallyconcerning the centrality of the humanbeing and the humanization ofthe urban space. The background ofthis article is the vocation and theidentity of the Church, responsiblefor the announcing of Jesus Christand his gospel to everyone.
