Abstract

This part of Gênesis 21,22-34, isfound in the continuation of chapter20, and is not only on what concernsthe presence of Abimelec and Picol/Ficol, both known from chapter 20.This relation between the threat toSara, on chapter 20, and the sceneon the Beerseba well, also is found onchapter 26, but in another sequence.This duplication of the scenary nearBeerseba well, in 21,22-34 and 26,points on one hand, how important itis to have an access to the well andthe water, and on the other, demandsthat one should ask which of the twotexts is the oldest. The water and theaccess to it is the decisive theme inorder to live in the south-palestinearid lands. It is almost the same importance as the survival of children,as it is read in the two texts of thechapters 21-22, in 21,8-21 and in22,1-19. Water is vital! Is what we´llgoing to read:
