Abstract

In the context of the aggiornamento of the Church, the Council Vatican II (1962-1965) laid the groundwork for the reform of the liturgy through the promulgation of the document Sacrosanctum Concilium. In this reform, the liturgical space is presented as a space not only functional but also symbolic and facilitator of participation in the liturgical action. Within the liturgical space, beyond the altar, the place has gained importance for the proclamation of the Word, the ambo.
