Abstract

This research faces the difficulties we are facing in the theme of divine revelation nowadays, in a belligerent context in which sometimes prevails a sense of disbelief in religion, sometimes prevails a sense that religion is, paradoxically, responsible for the greatest human atrocities. The article is divided in three parts: an introduction pointing today’s scenario where the three “religions of the book” suffer from conflicts that feed into barbarism, terrorism, attitudes that mirror fanaticism and a stunning fundamentalism. The central block of the article, presents a theological analysis, which is placed from my own position as a Christian theologian, and that is based in a Fundamental Theology, strongly influenced by the work of the great jesuit Karl Rahner, which analyzes different aspects of divine Revelation that forms our Christian identity – and, sometimes, even our civil identity, as in the case of Brazil where the strong influence of Christian values still prevails . In Conclusion, this study provides lessons for the Christian existence, which coincides with the totality of our existence, as we kneel down in silence together with pope Francis, who never gets tired of asking us to unite in prayer for Peace.
