Reflexões antropológicas e teológicas sobre a liberdade humana

This article aims to reflect on some anthropological and theological aspects of human freedom. The anthropological aspects focus on issues such as the difference between elective and entitative freedom, the relationship between human beings and human freedom, death as the consummation of the history of freedom, and the currents of contemporary thought denying the existence of freedom. This study also reflects on the theological aspects of human freedom starting from its biblical foundation, on its main Christian features, the relationship between divine grace and human freedom, and the possibility for freedom to make wrong decisions opting for the infernal choice. The method used in this study is based on the anthropological and theological analysis of some categories of human freedom. The conclusion shows that, contrary to what modernity and some contemporary theologians have argued that God and freedom are two antagonistic magnitudes, there is reciprocity between them. The notion of God neither harms autonomy nor the exercise of human freedom.
