Idolatrous cults in Israel, between archeology and exegesis: The case Is 57,5-10

Abstract

From archaeological discoveries, historical criticism has produced a lot of assumptions that have limited reading of the biblical text. In many cases, Intertextual reading was abandoned in favor of what is considered historic data, even when formulated as a hypothesis. The priority of the text itself over the archeology of the text is demonstrated by studying the section of Isaiah’s prophecy 57,5-10, in which the translation and interpretation issues are resolved within the same biblical corpus.
