Abstract

Considering the current debate about the presence of theology in the academic world, this study will describe the epistemological proposal that the Program of Post-Graduated Studies in Theology of PUC-SP does to the scientific community. “Christian Theology” is the new title for the single area of concentration. Though, it is necessary to highlight the meaning of the term “theology”, and specifically the foundational and identity nucleus of Christian Theology. As the Christian faith and its practice always take place in certain historical-social contexts, theology as a hermeneutical science and critical study of these realities assumes characteristic traits as well. In this sense, the Christian Theology researched in the Program of Post-Graduated Studies in Theology of PUC-SP is epistemologically characterized as Latin American. Its reflection acquires, due of its identity, a greater capacity of dialogue in relation to other human realities.
