Considerations about the relation therapist-child
Abstract
The therapeutic relation in phonoaudiology is discussed here focusing the social relation adult-child. The link phonoaudiologist-child is treated starting in the historic-social determination that intervene on it, being emphasized the struggle for power between the therapeutist and the client. In the relation adult-child, the adult authority is seen as natural and necessary since the child is socially dependent on the adult due to his physiological importance. This condition generates, besides the relation of dependence of the child upon the adult, the counter-dependence of the adult upon the child, as the adult cannot abdicate from his role of supplier of protection and the child care. This mutual social dependence among adults and children must also be considered in the therapeutic relation. Other aspects peculiar to the professional relation are considered in this article. The main aspect refers to the power to act on the child; this one, on the other hand, when communication disturbance appears, thinks that the phonoaudiologist has the obligation of eliminate it. As a result, various plays of clevemess come out among phonoaudiologist and children.Downloads
