Velopharyngeal insufficiency: a clinical case followed before and after pharyngeoplasty

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to report a clinical case of a cleft lip and palate subject corrected surgically. The speech and voice evaluation were done seven days before and six months after the pharyngeal flap surgery, such as: audiological, otological, aerodynamical, nasoendoscopical and clinical speech assessment. The results showed that the surgic and therapeutic procedures adopted to this case were satisfactory for the speech and voice improvement.
