Abstract

This study was conducted at the outpatient unit of hearing impaired individuals belonging to the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department of the Federal University of Santa aria (RS), with the objective of surveying the etiological factors of hearing disorder. We evaluated thirty-five individuals, both male and female, with ages ranging from one year and four months to fourteen years. The analysis of results, obtained from each patient’s data from, it was concluded that the etiological factors of major occurrence were those of congenital etiology and those of unknown etiology. This study shows the need of safety measures related to the hearing disorders in the community.
