Evaluation of the combined use of hearing aid and coclhear implants in adults

Theme: the combined use of hearing aids and cochlear implants. Aim: to analyze the benefits derived from the use of hearing aids and cochlear implants. Method: six adults with post lingual bilateral severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss participated in this study. Free field audiometry, loudness growth measures, speech perception tests and self assessment questionnaires were carried out. Results: decrease discomfort levels on the frequencies of 500 and 4 kHz; better recognition scores for nonsense syllables and sentences in silence. Conclusion: non-statistics difference among valuation conditions; benefits on speech perception with the use of hearing aids plus cochlear implants.Downloads
