Keywords:

The aim of this study was to evaluate linear and non-linear hearing aids benefit using a self-assessment inventory - APHAB (Abbreviated Profile for Hearing Aid Benefit) and compare the difference between them. Thirty subjects were evaluated. Twenty of them were fitted with analogic hearing aids: 10 WDRCTILL non-linear hearing aids and 10 Compression Limiting linear hearing aids. The remaining 10 were fitted with non-linear digital signal processing hearing aids. Thus we had in total three groups. For each sound environment proposed by the questionnaire we observed that all the wearers obtained real benefit with their hearing aids, excepted in situations with aversion sounds. Comparing the APHAB benefit obtained at the three groups no significant difference was observed between them.Downloads
