Purpose: to establish bibliometric indicators related to production literature indexed from dissertations and theses in the graduate program of the Departament of Speech of a public institution. Method: a survey of bibliographical production of the graduate students was conducted on the databases LILACS, SciELO, PubMed, Scopus e Web of Science and validated from data found in the Lattes curriculum of each student. Two bibliometric indexes, which are related to the students’ production from the time of their enrollment up to December 2011, were analyzed, identifying consolidated production in several languages, in scientific journal articles, books, book chapters. In this related bibliographic production the impact factor for the journals, in Journal Citation Report (JCR) and the QUALIS (elaborated by Capes), was obtained. Results: out of 563 theses-originated publications, 471 (84%) were published in the form of articles, followed by 68 concerning book chapters (12%) and 27 concerning books (6%), confirming what literature indicates: the most used publication channel, when it comes to researchers publishing their work, is the magazine article. Conclusion: the concentration of the papers published by graduate students occurs in magazines here and in Portuguese and Brazilian journals, in the choice of the prestigious area of speech. The 42 articles were published in journals with impact factor by the Journal Citation Report with 41 (98%) articles published in these journals are coming from the same subject of argument.Downloads
