Ocorrência e amplitude do efeito de supressão das emissões otoacústicas evocadas por cliques lineares

Abstract

Purpose: To verify the occurrence and the amplitude of suppression of the transient otoacoustic emissions in full-term neonates,without risk factors for hearing loss,using the linear click for stimulation and in comparison with the nonlinear clicks. Material and Method: 19 full-term neonates, with ages between 30 and 120 days with the presence of transient otoacoustic emissions bilaterally were evaluated. The otoacoustic emissions evoked by the linear clicks with intensity of 60dB pe NPS(±5dB) were registered by means of equipment ILO 96,Otodynamics Analyzer, on the absence and presence of contralateral white noise with intensity of 65dB NPS(±5dB). The occurrence and the amplitude of the suppression effect was verified by comparing the variation of values of the general reply, in each ear, on the presence and absence of the noise suppressor. Results: The suppression was present, in the right ear, for 90,0% of the individuals of the feminine sex and for 77,8% of the individuals of masculine sex and, in the left ear, for 80,0% of the individuals of the feminine sex and for 66,7% of the individuals of the masculine sex.The average of amplitude of suppression, in the right ear, was of 5,17dB for the feminine sex and of 7,14dB for the masculine sex and, in the left ear, of 5,10dB for the feminine sex and of 6,92dB for the masculine sex. There was no significant statistical difference between the sexes and the evaluated ears as to the occurrence and amplitude of the effect of suppression of the otoacoustic emissions evoked for transient stimulations. Conclusion: The linear technique, in comparison to the nonlinear, was efficient to the evaluation of function efferent on the studied population.
