Group of mothers of hearing impaired children: the impact of the diagnosis
Abstract
The diagnosis period showed itself to be rich in sentimental expressions from the group related to the moments experienced in this period. We perceived from their speeches that the mothers were the first ones to notice the hearing deficiency in their children and to turn to other sources that could confirm their diagnosis. The way the diagnoses were transmitted to them left them upset and ended up making the process of their children more difficult. The acceptance of the hearing deficiency was constantly reevaluated according to the social demands experienced by the family.Downloads
