Abstract

Purpose: Comparing and analyzing the repair strategies used by children with typical phonological acquisition (TA), with atypical phonological acquisition (AA) and with verbal dyspraxia (DV). Methods: For this research, speech data of 21 subjects were analyzed, in which seven of them had a phonological acquisition considered as being typical, seven individuals were diagnosed with evolutional phonological disorders and seven with verbal dyspraxia. The total corpus of 4802 words was obtained through the groups and it was submitted to the Computational Package VARBRUL in Windows environment – Varbwin to accomplish the statistical treatment of data, considering a margin of error of 5%. Results: The results regarding to the correct production, the syllable and the segment omission, replacing the usual and idiosyncratic substitution, as well as the assimilation, showed variables that can be considered statiscally significant. In the group with typical acquisition, it was verified that favors itself to the right production. The group with phonological disorder is more propitious to omit the segment and make the usual replacement. While the group with verbal dyspraxia tends to omit syllables, to accomplish the usual place and also replacing idiosyncratic and assimilation. Conclusion: According to the results that were presented, it was determined that there are some differences between the groups, that can help in the diagnosis of the individuals with typical acquisition, phonological disorder, and verbal dyspraxia through the use of repair strategies used by each group.
