Resumen

Este artículo tiene como objetivo restablecer el diálogo entre comunicación y control, proporcionando argumentos centrales que demuestran que la relación entre ambos conceptos no solo está documentada en muchos trabajos de autores sobre el tema, sino que también reflejan que dichos trabajos han ayudado a mantener el punto principal de que el control social y la comunicación están incrustados en el propio tejido de la construcción social de las realidades, desde la regulación de las interacciones hasta la de sociedades enteras. La ciencia de la comunicación también es resultado de este proceso, no siendo únicamente una mera consecuencia del desarrollo de las industrias, sino más bien un derivado del conocimiento de los problemas regulatorios de la sociedad en general. La ciencia de la comunicación se construyó en América a partir de la necesidad de comprender el control de los asuntos humanos y la política a través de la opinión pública y los medios de comunicación masivos en las áreas urbanas. La historia de la ciencia de la comunicación ha dado por sentado el concepto de control y lo ha vinculado a la cibernética y a la "sociología dominante", como en el trabajo de los funcionalistas, creando así un estancamiento en las discusiones sobre la comunicación y sus medios de control desarrollados en muchas teorías, además de impedir que nuestros estudios se conecten con las grandes narrativas sociales y criminológicas.
