O que só 'sozinho' faz e o que 'só' faz sozinho

Resumo

O artigo analisa os itens ‘só’ e ‘sozinho’ como modificadores distintos do português brasileiro, tratando ‘só’ como  um modificador exclusivo e ‘sozinho’ como um modificador (anti-)comitativo. Argumentamos que, diferentemente do que afirmam alguns trabalhos da literatura especializada, o item ‘sozinho’ não deve ser considerado análogo ao ‘só’, visto que uma teoria de exclusividade não é suficiente para explicar as interpretações associadas ao ‘sozinho’, que são distintas daquelas encontradas para ‘só’. Ao longo deste artigo, descrevemos as interpretações ativadas por ‘só’ e ‘sozinho’ no português brasileiro, comparamos os dois itens e, por fim, fornecemos uma proposta de análise para ‘sozinho’.

Elisa Anju Rodrigues, Universidade Federal de São Carlos

Bacharelado em Linguística em andamento pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar). Sou membro do Grupo de Pesquisa em Semântica, Sintaxe e Pragmática Formais (GeSER-UFSCar), na linha de pesquisa de descrição formal de línguas naturais. Também participo do Grupo A Expressão da Quantificação nas Línguas Naturais (UFSC), na linha de pesquisa em individuação, número e quantificação no Sintagma Nominal. Atualmente investigo o fenômeno linguístico de (anti-)comitatividade através da perspectiva da Semântica Formal, mas também contando com a ajuda de ferramentas da Pragmática Formal. Tenho interesse na descrição e análise formal da semântica de linguagem natural, mas também na formalização da semântica de linguagens lógicas e de programação. Busco conhecer mais sobre os aspectos teóricos que envolvem a descrição, análise e implementação da semântica de linguagens formais.

Renato Miguel Basso, Universidade Federal de São Carlos

Sou professor da Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar), doutor e mestre em Linguística pela Unicamp. Minhas pesquisas se concentram na descrição de fenômenos linguísticos usando as ferramentas da semântica e pragmática formais. Pesquiso, principalmente, sobre a semântica do verbo e dos indexicais, entre outros temas, mas também tenho interesse em linguística história e epistemologia da linguística.
