MUSICAL TEACHING UNDER AN AWARENESS-RAISING PERSPECTIVE.

The text intends to reveal the importance of including in the basic education and in the courses of teacher’s qualification a type of musical teaching which is not technicist and which is capable of helping the individual in his learning process and in the development of his personality. This teaching model may activate the individual’s cognitive mechanisms, the concentration, the analogic thinking, the sensitivity, and the emotional development. This awareness-raising musical teaching may contribute to the teaching of other disciplines that integrate the basic education syllabus. The article’s theoretical foundation was more specifically based on reports by A. Storr, H. Gardner, and Gainza, among others, and finds legal support in the enactment of the Statutory Law n. 11.769/08. The text also describes some scientific experiments carried out in this area.
