The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the efficacy of herbal medicines Carica Papaya and Myracrodruon urundeuva Allemão in the care of the elderly with pressure, arterial and neuropathic ulcers in the lower limbs. The care was provided in the homes of the elderly by the actions of a center for research, teaching and extension. The results showed the importance of combining the popular and the scientific knowledges in promoting health, and the joint action between health professionals and families in addressing the Farmácia Viva - SUS – in the treatment of wounds.
