Social representations of old age, both in related literature and in reverberations of two events reported in the media – the Michael Haneke film´s release Amour, and the suicide of actor, director and Brazilian producer Walmor Chagas aged 82 –, show an association between old age, decline and finitude, which is sometimes contested, sometimes reaffirmed in their connections, and demands attention on the aspects that are shown as being natural.
