Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of swallowing disorders on quality of life of institutionalized elderly. Applied an evaluation on orofacial myofunctional evaluation, the mini mental state examination and the questionnaire Quality of Life in Swallowing Disorders - SWAL-QOL. Although changes in swallowing cause major impact on quality of life of older people, these elderly are unaware of this problem, understanding it as a chanfe inherent to the aging process.
