Information and Communication Technologies Web: use preferences of a group of elderly users

This paper presents a survey of older people and their interactions with the Information Technology and Communication (ICT) available on the Web.Primary objective was to determine frequency of use and preferences for the use of a group of elderly users by the use of these ICT such as e-mail, chat (instant messaging), videofone and social networks. This qualitative study and exploratory. Participated in the survey a group of 51 elderly people with a mean age of 67.78 years, educational level and social class heterogeneous, randomly selected. All graduates of the extension project entitled "Computer Workshops for Seniors" at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, Brazil. The results showed the group's preference by e-mail.
