Hearing loss in the elderly: relationship between self-report, audiological diagnosis and verify the occurrence of use of personal hearing aids

This work aims to analyze the presence of self-reported hearing loss, audiologic assessment results and the occurrence of use of hearing aids in the elderly group. History and audiological tests coming 53 elderly members of community groups were analyzed. It was found that 54.3% said they listen well, but 83% had hearing impairment. The use of hearing aids was observed in only 3.8% of the sample.
