The aim of this study was to investigate the beliefs of young university students and seniors about: the concepts they attribute to the word love and what they understand as love relationships are monogamous, polygamous, or polyamorous. It is an exploratory, cross-sectional and descriptive study. Seven university students, ranging in age from 22 to 42 years old and five elderly people, aged between 62 and 68, participated in the study. The sample was obtained for convenience. It was observed that the concept of love, love relationships and polyamor are heterogeneous and influenced by the experience of each individual. Some external factors may have contributed to the formation of the individual's conception, such as culture, social group, the time lived etc.
