Caring for a dependent elderly person with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) can lead to feelings of burden. As such, intervention programs that can reduce caregiver stress are needed. The objective of the present study was to verify the effects of the 3Cs Program (3CP: Comprehend, Cope and Collaborate) on caregivers’ perceptions of burden. The 14 caregivers who participated in this study (mean age of 54.3 years) cared for a family member with AD and all completed the 3CP. After completing the intervention program, the caregivers presented lower levels of burden (the effect size was large), and these improvements were maintained one year later. In future studies, the 3CP should be evaluated with caregivers from other regions of Brazil.
