Abstract

This article aims to do a historical rescue on Gerontology, understanding it as a specialty that deals with research on human aging in its multiple dimensions. It is a explanatory qualitative research that utilized bibliographical revision as a research source. As a result, it was possible to identify the existence of multiple aspects within Gerontology, which not only complement each other but also dispute legitimacy in the explanation of what means aging.
