This study discusses the relevance of participating in the Mister IPGG contest (Brazil) through the perception of five winners of the 2017 edition. This is an ethnographic and exploratory case study. The relevance of participating was centered on the exercise of generativity, which was fostered by the senses of life purpose and age and gender belonging. The central aim was to leave a legacy, but also to make it possible to involve other older adults equally and satisfactorily. It was concluded that institutional investments in the construction of male appearance and their meanings may help in social engagement and well-being promotion among male older adults.Downloads
