Abstract

This study aimed to quantify the effects of a cognitive intervention on cognitive performance of institutionalized older adults. Participated five elderly, with average age of 77 years and low education, who were submited to a neuropsychological evaluation, for eight sessions, before and after cognitive intervention. The results of pre and post - tests showed slight effect of the intervention on levels of depression, verbal fluency, memory and praxis. It was concluded that cognitive action had a positive effect principally in depressive symptoms
