Cognition in elderly: influence of the use of hearing aids

The use of hearing aids treatment is recommended for elderly with hearing loss. This study aimed to verify the influence of the use of such devices in cognitive test in the elderly, preventing it cognitive, social and emotional changes. Thirteen individuals were assessed before and three months after the fitting through the Mini-Mental State Examination. It was found that there was a positive and significant correlation between scores in pre- and post-fitting, showing that the higher the score in the first phase, the greater will be the score in the second.
