Active Aging in Portugal: recent trends and (some) problems

Currently about 19% of the total population has more than 65 years. Compared to the last decade, the weigth of these individuals represents a growth of 19%, which will tend to grow in the coming decades as shown by demographic projections. This article aims to analyze recent trends and some problems on active aging in Portugal: gerontological orientation about active aging, as well as the propensity of increasing the working life and developments in the context of retirement.
