Abstract

This paper analyzes the dimensions of senior education in the context of contemporary Portuguese society, exploring the concept of learning throughout life, now settled in European and Portuguese education and formative system, mainly in their professional qualification or personnel development dimensions, in this case the elderly. It also discusses the importance of Universities of the Third Age or Senior University to continue studying and acquiring skills throughout lives in this scenario.

Doutorando em “Psicogerontologia” pela Universidade de Valência, Espanha. Mestre em Gestão de Recursos Humanos pelo ISCTE, Licenciado em Educação Social pela Escola Superior de Educação de Santarém e Universidade de Vigo (Espanha), Presidente-fundador da RUTIS desde 2005 e Professor do ensino superior com o título de Especialista em Gerontologia.
