Abstract

This article addresses the psychological aspects that favor the act of caring and the choice of the role of caregiver. It analyzes the experience of being looked after throughout life, the identification process and the social recognition of this role, its employability and the personal development it promotes. It also highlights aspects that blur the relationship between the caregiver and the patient, that end up generating excess or lack of care, frustrating both actors.
