Abstract

The methodology consisted of semi-structured interviews with elderly / those between the age group 65-77 years in the city of Cuiabá (MT), Brazil. As results, it was found that the experiences of men during youth were linked to a body built for masculinity attributes such as strength, virility and work; while women remembered is a body that "weighed less" and which was later modified by experience of biological and social motherhood. In this sense, men and women were significantly influenced by traditional gender representations.
