Abstract

The world's population as well as Brazil´s is going through a rapid ageing process, whose results generate impacts on several fields such as social, political, economic and cultural ones. Given this, it is up to the State and to the civil society to play a strategic role in the joint construction of public policies targeting senior citizens. This article focuses on “The Great Municipal Council of São Paulo for the Elderly” aiming at recovering its trajectory and at identifying its main challenges to influence the public policy process.
